It's the time of year when many people will be searching and starting new jobs. I am one of those many iStock_68836859_MEDIUM.jpgwho searched and found a new job this spring; thankfully, I ended up at Rhythm Systems.

Everyone is nervous the first week at a new job. My first week at Rhythm Systems, the team put me at ease and created a great environment. With the help of my team, my onboarding was a breeze. Below are four tips to help you get started on your first day at a new company.

1. Arrive at least 10 minutes early. Arriving early at your new job allows you to get your bearings and calm yourself before starting the day. And, you can avoid being late due to unexpected traffic delays. Being late on the first day isn't the first impression you want to make.
2. Be nice to everyone you meet. Being kind to your coworkers is a given, but it is especially important on your first day. Again, you want to make a positive first impression.
3. Listen more than you speak. Listen to your new manager and take notes during your time together. You'll be learning a lot in the beginning, so don't rely on your memory alone.
4. Learn as much as you can about your new boss before your first day. Find her on LinkedIn and see her work experience, try and get a feel for her management style.

I hope these tips help other new hires out there. Good luck on your first day!
