Assigning Roles: Champion vs. Expert vs. Performance Management Champion
Assign internal roles to support successful implementation, adoption, and maintenance of Rhythm.
The Rhythm Champion, Rhythm Expert, and Performance Management Champion are the internal roles that bring Rhythm to life inside your company. When these roles are clearly assigned, adoption accelerates, your team sees faster results, and leaders get the data they need to make great decisions. When these roles are left informal or combined without intention, good habits fade, questions pile up, and the value of your Rhythm investment stalls.
You do not have to fill every role with a different person. Depending on the size and structure of your organization, these responsibilities may be spread across a few leaders or handled effectively by one. What matters is that someone owns each role and is set up to succeed.
Key Responsibilities of Each Role
When you understand the unique responsibilities of each Rhythm role, you can select the right people to lead your team’s success with confidence.

- Internal Liaison: Collect and share user feedback for software improvements and inform the team about new Rhythm features or changes.
Performance Management Champion:

- Metric Governance: Establish definitions and standards for key organizational metrics, KPIs, and goal-setting formats.
- Review Cycle Management: Lead the coordination, scheduling, and execution of quarterly and annual performance reviews.
- Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy of performance data for executive reporting and decision-making.
Best Practices for Assigning Roles
To assign these roles effectively, match the role's primary function with the team member's organizational standing and core competencies. Here is a starting point for each:
- Rhythm Champion: A senior leader or executive with the authority to drive organizational change, secure resources, and champion the platform’s value. This person owns strategy and vendor management.
- Rhythm Expert: A team member known for strong organizational skills, detail orientation, tech savviness, and collaborative communication. This person keeps day-to-day usage consistent and supports the rest of the team.
- Performance Management Champion: An individual in HR / People Operations with expertise in process design, who can ensure the review process aligns with your broader HR policies and can coach the team through each cycle.
