In order to set yourself and your team up for a successful Weekly Adjustment Meeting, proper prep time is a must. We suggest a 20-30 minute "Meeting with Yourself" at the end of each week. Not only does it set you up for success at your team meeting, but personal reflection time is good for the soul. Schedule it on your calendar and make a point to take this time each week.
Here are 4 simple steps you can use to boost your long-term productivity and personal focus:
1. Reflect on the week that just ended. What went well? What lessons did you learn? Write it down.
2. If you have your Individual Priorities for the quarter written down or entered into Rhythm, pick a status color for each. Consider each Priority, think of all the information you know at that moment regarding that priority. Pick the most accurate and honest status. Green means you are on track for success. Red means you are on track for failure and Yellow is somewhere in between. SuperGreen means you are on track to hit your stretch goal.
3. Determine an action plan to Green for any of your struggling priorities (Yellows and Reds). What are some Action Items you need to add to your list? Do you need anything from the team? What adjustments do you need to make to get the priority back on track? Write it down. If you are using Rhythm, record Action Items under each struggling priority.
4. Write down your Week In Sync notes. The format is simple: Victories, Priorities & Stucks. If you are using Rhythm, you'll see the WIS notes field on the Update Status page. Each person should share their WIS notes during the Weekly Meeting.
